Hand Drawn Illustration Floor Plans
For this project, I was tasked with creating hand-drawn architectural floor plans for a three-story Airbnb house. My objective was to convey the concept of a spacious area that can comfortably accommodate multiple guests. Additionally, I aimed to assist the client in explaining the rationale behind their pricing, considering the house’s size, which includes two kitchens, three and a half bathrooms, and four bedrooms.
The first floor offers the greatest potential for impact.
People take a risk every time they search for an Airbnb place to stay because they’re uncertain about the size of the place due to potentially misleading pictures and confusing room locations. Not everyone has an architectural mind and can interpret basic construction plans.
To address these concerns, I’ve created illustrated hand drop plans that prioritize the human experience and furniture and plant arrangements throughout the house. These plans then focus on dimensionality and architectural details.
These plans alleviate the stress of not knowing the final appearance of the place after combining all the pictures. By adding text to each room and special objects within the room, users can cross-analyze the pictures and gain a deeper understanding of what they’re getting when they stay there.
Of course, the main floor or the only floor plays a crucial role in shaping the initial experience and justifying the price you’re asking for.
Understanding the second floor in human scale.
Similar to the first floor, which illustrates the layout for cooking, relaxation, entry, and exit, the second floor is pivotal in comprehending the sleeping arrangements. Given the substantial size of this Airbnb, it could accommodate a single family that prefers close proximity or a couple sharing the space and seeking to ascertain the distance between them. Alternatively, it could be two families and inquiring about the availability of space for all occupants.
By presenting human-scale models of the second floor populated with actual individuals, guests can grasp the spatial relationships between each room and the amenities they provide, facilitating their selection of the most suitable room. Some guests may favor the tranquil corner with its private bathroom and compact space, while others may opt for the main suite featuring a spacious en suite bathroom, ample storage, and a walk-in closet.
Furthermore, guests should be informed that the bedroom lounge is an extension of the attic apartment, and they will traverse the space. This information is particularly pertinent for teenagers or adults familiar with or accompanying the guests residing in the attic.
Single room layouts for small or attic apartments.
In environments with limited space, we endeavor to cultivate a spacious and welcoming ambiance within each apartment. By incorporating figures engaged in diverse activities such as cooking, relaxing, or working, we facilitate potential residents’ visualization of themselves comfortably occupying the space.
Furthermore, text overlays on the images provide additional information regarding the room’s features and amenities. This attic apartment distinguishes itself as a unique addition to the house, offering a separate family space within a larger home shared with another family.
It serves as an ideal location for multiple young adults to share the space, while simultaneously providing a tranquil retreat for those seeking a brief respite from the demands of family life.
