Botanical Art Series — Cherry Blossom Collection

Created in response to the Sakura Community Art Exhibit at the Japanese Friendship Garden & Museum, Gilded Hanami reflects the tradition of hanami — the act of pausing beneath cherry blossoms to honor the fleeting beauty of spring.

In this serene composition, a figure tilts her head with eyes closed, breathing in the blossoms that frame her face like a gentle embrace. The moment is intimate and contemplative — suspended between breath and bloom.

Her skin is rendered in luminous imitation gold leaf, intentionally chosen for its warmth and enduring glow. The gold symbolizes inner radiance — a light that remains steady through life’s changing seasons. Her silver-leaf hair introduces a contemporary note of self-acceptance and timeless elegance, creating a dialogue between vitality and wisdom.

Layered oil glazes and confident contour linework give the painting both modern clarity and emotional depth. As light shifts across the multi-metal surface, the piece subtly transforms throughout the day.

Artwork Details

Artwork is an original mixed media, oil, acrylic and metal leaf painting created on a 1.5” deep gallery wood panel. The solid wood surface provides a smooth, stable foundation that enhances the layered color fields and luminous gilded accents.

The edges are finished in genuine gold leaf, creating a radiant halo effect around the piece and allowing it to feel complete and sculptural when displayed unframed.

The artwork is titled and signed on the back and will arrive professionally wired and ready to hang.

Each original painting is carefully packaged and shipped from my studio in Kansas City, Missouri within two weeks of the purchase date.
