ART
I work in watercolor, gouache, and oil. I use watercolor and gouache for small- to mid-sized works, as well as for plein air painting during my travels. For larger canvases, I transition to water-soluble oil paints.
My paintings are created on watercolor paper, wood panels, and large linen canvas scrolls. Every piece is made with archival materials and protected with varnish or cold wax to ensure its longevity.
Metallic accents are a defining element of my work. I incorporate gold, copper, and silver metal leaf alongside metallic paints and iridescent mediums to create surfaces that shift with changing light. Rather than remaining static, my paintings are designed to be experienced through movement. As viewers walk past, the metallic elements catch the light from different angles, encouraging them to move back and forth until they discover the moment when the subject seems to glow.
Inside the Studio
Each painting begins with layered color fields and hand-applied metal leaf. Gold, silver, and copper surfaces shift with light, creating a shared luminosity between subjects.
Meet Tiffany
Tiffany Zen is a Kansas City–based artist and architectural designer whose work explores the connection between people, animals, nature, and the places they call home. Her practice spans fine art, illustration, and architectural drawing, from exhibiting paintings in regional galleries to creating custom property portraits, hand-drawn floor plans, and gouache illustrations inspired by landscapes, wildlife, and architecture encountered during her travels.
Working in watercolor, gouache, and oil, Tiffany combines traditional painting techniques with hand-applied metal leaf and iridescent finishes that transform as light moves across the surface. Her background in architecture informs her attention to composition, place, and storytelling, while her love of travel and observation inspires work that invites viewers to slow down, explore, and discover beauty from new perspectives.

Campfire Ranch Property Portrait
While searching for a unique place to celebrate my birthday, I discovered Campfire Ranch and was immediately inspired by its architecture and sense of place. What began as a getaway became an opportunity to create a custom Property Portrait that captures the character, design, and story of this remarkable destination.

Midtown Airbnb Illustrated Floorplans
For this project, I was tasked with creating hand-drawn architectural floor plans for a three-story Airbnb house. My objective was to convey the concept of a spacious area that can comfortably accommodate multiple guests.
